SOLO TRAD WORK Recent solo trad work has including a feature on the BBC Alba/TG4 programme 'Sruth'. Celtic Connections provided the great opportunity of a 'New Voices' commission, which was an opportunity to write a number of new tunes, and two new Gaelic songs. Composition Pàdruig is researching the confluence of traditional and contemporary classical music in Scotland. He is currently a PhD researcher on this area. See compositions page for scores. CIARADH NA h-Oidhche Ciaradh na h-Oidhche recreates the vital setting for the transmission of stories, songs, tunes and lore in the Gàidhealtachd: an taigh cèilidh - the ceilidh house. Pàdruig Morrison, Linda MacLeod, Seonaidh MacIntyre, Calum MacDonald and Shona Masson are all inheritors of the language and culture of Uist and Skye, and share an enthusiasm for keeping this tradition alive. |
Tùsanaich commission TÙSANAICH - INDIGENOUS was a Ceòl is Craic commission first performed at the CCA, Sauchiehall Stree 23.09.23. It was a full evening of new Gaelic songs and tunes exploring the connection of Gaels with the land and the environment, voicing and provoking discussion around indigeneity, land rights, climate change, and eco systems.
